Bricks and Stepping Stones workshop

On Friday May 11th, 2007 we held a workshop to make quilts using the pattern "Bricks and Stepping Stones"; this was from Bonnie Hunter's website and was used with her permission.

Twelve ladies attended. We had an auspicious beginning to the day, with a phone call announcing the birth of a new grandaughter! Everyone worked hard all day, with only a few breaks for coffee and muffins (too bad S. B. forgot to add the sugar), lunch (of course), and W.J.’s story about the Hawaiian good luck sign (no one will be able to look at a bumper sticker again). As with all workshops, we all came away having learned something, including a great new way to "reverse sew", using a moustache trimmer!

At the end of the day, everyone had made a good start on their quilts, and it was wonderful to see the variety of quilts, from really "scrappy" to beautifully colour co-ordinated. And, mostly, we just enjoyed a relaxing day of stitching and sharing together.
